1979 - 2012
DEMS BULLETINS
In 1979, the International Duke Ellington Music Society ("DEMS"), started by Benny Aasland of Sweden, began publishing bulletins primarily for the benefit of collectors of Ellington recordings. Sjef Hoefsmit of Belgium, assisted by Roger Boyes of the U.K., took over this monumental task when Mr. Aasland died, until Mr. Hoefsmit also passed away in 2012. The Bulletins, printed and mailed to DEMS members around the world, were eventually web-published on Peter MacHare's now closed A Duke Ellington Panorama website, http://www.depanorama.net/DEMS, and may be available again once his webpages are added to the website of the Duke Ellington Society of the U.K.
DEMS Bulletins cover far more than just recordings, and are valuable research tools that remain available in the Internet Archive but accessing them with its Wayback Machine is complicated. Since The Duke - Where and When has more than 6,500 DEMS references, I copied them to the TDWAW server to ensure they don't disappear again.
The 1979 to 2000 Bulletins are PDF documents provided by the late Bjorn F. Andresen. The late Marcus Girvan used OCR technology to make 1995 to 2000 searchable, and I did the earlier ones with mixed results. If the Search or Find tool in your PDF program doesn't turn up what you are looking for, you should visually scan the document in case the OCR did not capture what you're after.
The 2001 to 2007 Bulletins were web-published in sections. From 2008 onwards, they were also produced as single consolidated files. I only saved the latter, and I edited all of the bulletins to remove the Internet Archive banners and headers .
In July 2023 I combined all the 2001 to 2012 bulletins into single PDF files, and these are searchable.

It was a big job to change TDWAW's DEMS links to their new URLs. It was a manual process and I may have missed a few or given the wrong link. If the file doesn't open from TDWAW, you can find it in the list below.
